The Process

Following your comprehensive exam, we use the Medit i600 to take a precise digital impression of your teeth. This state-of-the-art technology ensures a highly accurate and comfortable scanning process, essential for creating your custom ClearCorrect aligners.  We also take intra-oral and profile photos for records.  All this information is then submitted to ClearCorrect.

Based on the digital scans, your custom ClearCorrect aligners are designed and fabricated. These aligners are crafted to fit snugly over your teeth, gradually moving them into the desired position over the course of your treatment.  There will be a treatment proposal that will be emailed to you.  The link will take you to a place where you can view, 3-dimensionally, how your teeth will progress through the aligners.  We are able to make corrections at this point, and will need your approval to proceed.  Once approved, ClearCorrect will begin to fabricate the aligners.

Once your ClearCorrect aligners are ready, we'll schedule a fitting appointment. During this visit, we ensure that your aligners fit perfectly and provide any necessary adjustments. We also offer detailed instructions on how to wear and care for your aligners effectively.  Many times we also have to put tooth colored "buttons" on the teeth.  These provide the trays with a little bit more control of the teeth.  They do blend in with your natural teeth.  The trays are designed to fit over them.

Throughout your ClearCorrect treatment, regular check-ups at Shallowford Smiles are scheduled. These appointments allow us to monitor your progress and make any adjustments to your treatment plan as needed, ensuring the best possible outcome.  We typically give 2 sets of trays each visit, and each set of trays is usually used for 3 weeks, though some people move faster and only have to wear them for 2 weeks at a time before switching.  That said, most people are at 3 weeks, and skipping ahead to soon will cause bigger delays in treatment.

Upon completing your ClearCorrect treatment, we'll assess the final results and discuss any post-treatment care, including the potential use of retainers to maintain your new smile. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that you are delighted with your treatment outcome.

FAQ

ClearCorrect aligners gently shift your teeth into place over time. Each set of clear aligners is worn for a few weeks, usually 2-3, before moving on to the next in the series, gradually aligning your teeth to their correct positions.

Your journey with ClearCorrect at Shallowford Smiles starts with a consultation. We use the Medit I600 for a precise digital scan of your teeth, which is used to create your customized aligners. We go over the treatment proposal, which you will be able to view 3-dimensionally and approve, or have us make improvements.  Once your aligners are ready, we'll instruct you on their use.

Treatment duration with ClearCorrect varies, typically ranging from 6 to 24 months. We will provide a more specific timeline based on your individual case during your consultation.

ClearCorrect aligners are generally not painful. You might feel a bit of pressure when starting a new set of aligners, but this sensation usually subsides quickly.  Some people take Tylenol or Advil for a couple of days.

Yes, ClearCorrect aligners are removable. They can be taken out for meals, brushing, or special occasions. For the best results, it's important to wear them for at least 22 hours daily, and ideally 23 hours.

We usually schedule check-ups at Shallowford Smiles every 4-6 weeks, with it usually being closer to 6 weeks, or 3 weeks per set of aligners. These appointments allow us to monitor your progress and provide your next set of aligners, ensuring your treatment stays on track.

Care for your aligners by rinsing them in lukewarm water and brushing them gently with a soft toothbrush. Good oral hygiene, including regular brushing and flossing, is also crucial.

Insurance coverage for orthodontic treatments like ClearCorrect can vary. We suggest checking with your provider, and our team at Shallowford Smiles can assist with any questions.

Upon completing your ClearCorrect treatment, we typically recommend retainers to maintain your new smile. We will discuss the most suitable retainer type for you and provide guidelines for wear.
